Materials Coordinator Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Organizes and maintains stockroom/inventory
- Organizes and maintains point of use supermarket inventory locations throughout manufacturing area. Identifies and implements improvements and opportunities to expand system.
- Performs cycle counting and other activities to ensure inventory accuracy
- Tracks material expiration and removes expired material from use
- Issues material to work orders per production schedule and provides material to appropriate production personnel
- Notifies production of material shortages, rejections, and completions
- Moves in process production between various production operations.
- Maintains Kanban and 2-bin scheduling systems. Recommends and implements improvements and expansion of current systems.
- Orders purchased Kanban material as appropriate; Schedules production for internal Kanban items as appropriate.
- Assists in coordination and maintenance of company-wide 5S activities
- Provides backup phone coverage as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Demonstrates a willingness to work as a productive team member
- Demonstrates decision making skills and leadership
- Must be able to work unsupervised
- Possesses strong written and oral communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook
- Ability to quickly learn computerized MRP system
- Familiar with ISO 9001 environment and quality requirements preferred
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing preferred
- Min. 60 hours college credit in Business Administration or Related field. Two or Four year degree preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to physically perform basic office/administrative functions
- Must be able to transport parts and supplies throughout building
- Must be able to move and handle inventory material, including crouching, reaching and lifting
